TravelShark, with operations in Boulder, acquires travel guide publisher
September 22,2011Singapore-based TravelShark, a provider of online travel sites that bases its North American operations in Boulder, has acquired a company that publishes “hyper-local” travel guides for 30 cities around the globe, TravelShark officials announced Thursday.
TravelShark acquired Portland-based eat.shop guides, a company that produces travel books that feature “unique and unexpected” dining and shopping venues in the respective destination city. Financial terms were undisclosed. The consideration was a mix of cash, employment commitments and employee stock options, said Samantha Lee, a TravelShark spokeswoman. -

Online Travel Network Operator TravelShark Raises $5 Million
June 28,2011TravelShark (the startup formerly known as Swiftrank), which operates an online travel network, this morning announced that it has closed a $5 million round of financing from DLA Holdings, a Singapore-based private equity firm. TravelShark has raised a total of $8 million to date.
TravelShark says it boasts more than 12,000 location-based travel websites, covering destinations around the globe, aimed to generate revenue for travel companies by driving direct bookings to hotels, resorts, spas, and more through its Featured Hotel Program.
